S3 Mission Statement

The S3 section develops plans for all operations within the 1-151st Battalion tactical operations center (TOC). Coordinates with higher HQs; adjacent & subordinate/supporting units for all operations/missions. Develops and issues Operational Orders for subordinate Units. Coordinates and manages resources (land, ammo, air, time) in all operations, rehearses the operation with the commander and all subordinate units.


Monitors and supervises the distribution of messages and operational overlays (analog/digital) one organizational level up and two levels down.

Ensure all information within the TOC (coming and going) is disseminated, updated, collaborated, and managed properly. Monitor situations and ensure TOC maintains communications with attached, subordinate, adjacent units, and higher headquarters.

Manage reports/battle tracking. Oversee the timely and accurate posting of graphics and overlays. In addition to the S3 duties, the Battle Staff NCO and Battle Captain track all of the 1-151st FpA convoys in and out of our area of operations 24 hours a day and 7 days a week throughout Kuwait and Iraq.  

They maintain current battle execution synchronization matrices, execution checklists, execution matrices, operation schedules, and the overall common operational picture (COP) to effectively battle track current operations.

They are the first-line information for the TOC. Additional duties include, supervise TOC information flow, Collect process, and disseminate information, oversee quality control of battle tracking, monitor current operations, ensure TOC personnel distribute reports and messages properly, update unit status reports, maintain staff journals and filing records (analog or digital) of all staff decisions and critical information coming into and leaving and maintains status boards/charts.
